FWS Technologies Announces a Unique Corn Fractionation System for Ethanol Producers

FWS Technologies, a division of the FWS Group of Companies, has developed a Corn Fractionation System (Patent Pending) for the ethanol industry that utilizes a unique technology to effectively and efficiently separate (fractionate) corn into its main components. Our fractionation technology provides for ethanol production enhancements that will significantly increase the profitability of corn ethanol plants.

This new technology allows ethanol producers to achieve greater profits by providing increased annual ethanol throughput, sales of new and enhanced co-products as well as to significantly reduce operating costs.

Fractionation is not a new technology concept in the ethanol industry however to-date the most common approach is to fractionate the corn using a “wet” process. The FWS System uses “dry” fractionation technology that utilizes minimal or no water to produce three main corn fractions. These fractions are called: the Endosperm Fraction, the Germ Fraction and the Bran Fraction. Fractionating corn into these components via dry processing results in many benefits to ethanol producers especially due to the significantly reduced operating costs. An additional benefit of using this dry fractionation technology is that the co-products generated are not damaged in processing and therefore can further processed and marketed into high value animal feed and human food markets.

FWS provides a total turnkey solution for your fractionation needs as we utilize the design-build approach to delivering you the FWS Fractionation System. There is no need to change your current process setup because our system simply bolts on to the front end of your dry grind ethanol plant. Our technology is unique in that it requires relatively few equipment processing steps to achieve high quality fractionation results. By employing relatively few processing steps means: lower operating costs, lower maintenance costs, small footprint and lower initial capital costs.

Overall the FWS System provides many advantages for ethanol producers. A partial list of the most significant advantages includes:
  • Low initial capital cost
  • Short payback period
  • Online installation
  • Small equipment footprint
  • Relatively low horsepower requirement
  • High capacity system
  • Lower operating costs
  • Ease of operation
  • Minimal maintenance requirement
  • Superior co-products
  • Corn oil extraction opportunities
  • Enhanced environmental impact
With increases to profitability, reductions in energy utilization and emissions, our fractionation system is both financially and environmentally rewarding.
