To add to this expertise, we are recruiting for a Structural Steel Detailer for our Winnipeg office location, to join our collaborative and team focused organization.
As our Structural Steel Detailer, you will be responsible for developing concepts, structural steel designs, and reviewing and supporting the construction and operation of a variety process facilities which meet client requirements.
Position Overview:
Planning & Design
- Participates in the execution phase of the project, working with the Structural Engineer, design team, and Project Manager to design, 3D models, and draft structural steel components and structures.
- Provide design suggestions to the Structural Engineer and Project Team based on optimal structure designs.
- Participate in coordination meetings with other designers and engineers to ensure overall layout and fit up of designed components.
- Works with the team to develop drawings and to promote a high-quality high value product. Ensures that all drawings and plans are finalized and coordinated on a timely basis and conform to specifications and contract scope.
- Make ongoing design changes as required throughout the project
Technological Proficiency
- Stays current with applicable technologies, products, software, and regulations.
- Proficiency with design software such as, Advance Steel, Navisworks, BIM360, and other Autodesk products.
Qualifications Needed:
- Diploma in a technical field such as Architectural Technology or Engineering Technology or a combination of technical education and experience is required.
- 5+ years’ experience in the design-build industry is preferred.
- High level of experience using steel detailing software is required. Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel is preferred, but the ability to quickly become proficient with it is a requirement
- A practical yet creative approach to problem solving. Open-minded with a willingness to consider new ideas.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work as part of a team. Must not be overly sensitive to challenges or criticism.
- High degree of accuracy and able to manage multiple details under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Ability to travel, includes some extended stays.
