Project Overview

FWS Group was responsible for the design and construction of the Activated Carbon Plant, a high-capacity facility dedicated to the production of activated carbon. This project focused on implementing advanced processing systems and infrastructure to support large-scale activated carbon production.

The scope of work for the Activated Carbon Plant project included the following key features:

  • 16,000 Tonne/Year Capacity: The plant is designed to produce up to 16,000 tonnes of activated carbon per year. This high-capacity facility supports significant production volumes, meeting the needs of various industrial and commercial applications.
  • Transfer Conveyors: The plant includes transfer conveyors to efficiently transport raw materials and finished products throughout the facility. These conveyors ensure smooth and continuous material flow, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • Multi-Hearth Furnace: A multi-hearth furnace was installed for the activation process. This furnace is critical for converting raw carbon material into activated carbon through a controlled heating process, enhancing the material’s adsorption properties.
  • Crushing Systems: Crushing systems are incorporated to reduce the size of raw materials and process the activated carbon into the desired specifications. These systems ensure that the carbon is processed effectively and consistently.
  • Pneumatic Conveyance/Storage Systems: Pneumatic conveyance systems were installed to move materials through the plant using air pressure. Storage systems support the management of both raw materials and finished products, ensuring efficient handling and storage.
  • Process Building and Ancillary Structures: The facility includes a process building where the core activation processes are carried out, as well as ancillary structures that support various operational needs. These structures provide the necessary infrastructure for the plant’s functionality.
  • Equipment Installation: Comprehensive equipment installation was carried out to ensure all systems and machinery are properly set up and operational. This includes installation of the transfer conveyors, multi-hearth furnace, crushing systems, and other critical equipment.
  • Piping and Electrical Systems: The project involved the installation of piping systems for fluid and material transport within the facility. Electrical systems were also installed to support the plant’s operations, including power supply and control systems.

The Activated Carbon Plant project highlights FWS Group’s expertise in developing complex industrial facilities. The plant’s advanced features and high capacity support efficient and large-scale production of activated carbon, contributing to its effectiveness and operational excellence.
