Project Overview

FWS Group developed a state-of-the-art Export Grain Terminal designed to handle high volumes of grain efficiently and support diverse transportation methods. This project focused on creating a flexible and high-capacity facility capable of meeting extensive export demands.

The scope of work for the Export Grain Terminal project included the following key features:

  • High Throughput Capacity: The terminal is designed to manage a high throughput, capable of receiving 400 trucks per day. This capacity supports efficient grain handling and ensures that large volumes of grain can be processed quickly.
  • Dual Lane Truck and Hybrid Truck/Rail Receiving: The facility features a dual lane truck receiving setup and a single lane hybrid truck/rail receiving configuration. This design maximizes operational efficiency by allowing simultaneous unloading from both trucks and railcars, streamlining the intake process.
  • Flexible Unloading/Loading Design: The terminal’s flexible design supports truck, rail, and vessel unloading/loading operations. This versatility enables the terminal to handle various transportation methods, accommodating up to 1,500 metric tonnes per hour (MT/PH) of grain.
  • RFID Card Reader System: A premium RFID card reader system is installed to optimize traffic management. This system enhances operational efficiency by accurately tracking and managing the flow of trucks and railcars entering and leaving the facility.
  • Continuous Flow Grain Drying: The facility includes continuous flow grain drying capabilities with a throughput of up to 4,700 bushels per hour (BPHT). This system ensures that grain is dried efficiently, maintaining quality and preparing it for storage or export.
  • Total Steel Storage Capacity: The terminal features a total steel storage capacity of 50,920 metric tonnes (MT). This substantial capacity provides ample space for the storage of grain, supporting both current and future operational needs.

The Export Grain Terminal project highlights FWS Group’s expertise in developing advanced grain handling facilities that support high throughput and efficient operations. The terminal’s design and features contribute to its effectiveness in managing large volumes of grain, optimizing transportation, and ensuring quality control throughout the process.
