Wood Pellet Conveyor Transfer Upgrade

North Vancouver, British Columbia
overview

Project Overview

FWS partnered with Fibreco Export Inc. to enhance material handling performance at their North Vancouver facility through the Wood Pellet Conveyor Transfer Upgrade, targeting pellet degradation, flow inefficiencies, and dust emissions at a critical transfer point. Delivered within a tight one-month schedule, the project featured a newly engineered chute system supported by Discrete Element Modeling to simulate material flow and validate performance, along with a curved hood and spoon design to guide pellets more gently and reduce impact and dust generation. An extended enclosed skirting system further controlled dust and improved cleanliness, and installation was carefully coordinated within planned shutdown windows to avoid operational disruption. The upgrade resulted in improved flow efficiency, reduced product degradation, and lower dust emissions, providing a cleaner, more reliable, and environmentally responsible conveyor transfer process.
